Fire in the sky sunset

I noticed the beautiful orange sunset on my way home after picking up my car from the mechanic shop....again.  It was over the northern part of town by my church and Air Force Academy.  On the east side of town, it was starting to drizzle and there was a faint rainbow.  As I drove into my neighborhood, the rainbow became vibrant...bright and deep (if that makes any sense). It was one of the most vibrant I have seen in a long time. It was all breathtaking.

I rushed in, grabbed my daughter and camera and we were off to a nearby trail to take the photos in a matter of a few minutes. The sun was setting quickly; the sky became darker and the rainbow disappeared.  Here are the pictures I took in the few short minutes I had the fortunate opportunity to capture and enjoy.

Experiencing last night makes me thankful to be living in Colorado and thankful for God's artistry.
